Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is an British and American sitarist. She also sings. She was the first and youngest woman to be awarded an award from the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka shankar is one of the rising stars of India's sitar. She is the student and child of Ravi Shankar. Her childhood was spent bouncing around from London to New Delhi. The first time she performed was on stage in New Delhi at the tender age of 13. After that, she moved to Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Her career as a performer and recorder is quite impressive, in spite of her youth. Since quite some time, she has been performing regularly with her father. The first album she released as a solo artist, Anourag, was released in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning album Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years following her debut solo album. She has appeared at many famous venues throughout the world. Anoushka's career does not only involve music. Bapi: The love of My Live is her 2002 book, which was a tribute to Ravi Shankar. Also, she appeared in movie in 2003. She played an Bharat natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shakar's profession is only going to continue to expand and expand. We can look forward to seeing many new things from her. Anoushka was raised in England however, she spent the majority of her youth split between London as well as Delhi. After that, she relocated to California and attended high school. at the age of nine She began studying the piano with her father. Her first performance with the Sitar took place during her birthday celebrations for her 75th birthday in Delhi, four years after. Anoushka was able to gain a great deal of knowledge by traveling across the globe together with her father. She performed in Carnegie Hall in her teenage years, and recorded at George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. Her musicianship and talent were acknowledged by the British Parliament as being among the top of the best in Asian Arts.
